Happy Birthday, Dr Seuss

Today’s the day!

On this day in 1904 one of my favorite authors was born. His books were silly, the animation strange, but the many truths contained within them were powerful. My sons grew up being read a Dr Seuss book every night before bed when they were young.

Here’s a pic of me reading Hop On Pop to my son, Zachary, last year on this day.

And here I’m reading it to my grandson, Josiah, only 3 days after he was born.

For today it seemed fitting to offer up some awesome quotes from Dr Seuss. I know that’s a little different than normal, but I feel like paying tribute. And although these aren’t Scriptures, as you read I believe you will find some interwoven truths.

•A person's a person, no matter how small.

•Today you are you! That is truer than true! There is no one alive who is you-er than you!

•I speak for the trees, for the trees have no tongues.

•I know, up on top you are seeing great sights, But down here at the bottom, we, too, should have rights.

•The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go.

•Unless Someone Like You Cares A Whole Awful Lot, Nothing Is Going To Get Better. It’s Not.

Read to your children. You’ll be glad you did, and so will they.

Following the Son,

James A Williams
