Stop The Bleeding
What plagued you in the past, and no one can solve, God can take care of with one touch.
What an amazing truth. We find an illustrated in an account recorded in several of the Gospels. It’s a bit long, but worth reading.
“And a woman who had a hemorrhage for twelve years, and could not be healed by anyone, came up behind Him and touched the fringe of His cloak, and immediately her hemorrhage stopped. And Jesus said, “Who is the one who touched Me?” And while they were all denying it, Peter said, “Master, the people are crowding and pressing in on You.” But Jesus said, “Someone did touch Me, for I was aware that power had gone out of Me.” When the woman saw that she had not escaped notice, she came trembling and fell down before Him, and declared in the presence of all the people the reason why she had touched Him, and how she had been immediately healed. And He said to her, “Daughter, your faith has made you well; go in peace.” Luke 8:43-48
In an emergency situation where someone has been injured top priority is always to stop the bleeding. During my senior year of high school I would work some days after school cutting trees. It was hard work, but I enjoyed it. One day while trimming some branches I foolishly brought my chainsaw back to move some branches with my free hand and cut my leg open with the chainsaw. (Sorry to gross you you out. It wasn’t pretty) Direct pressure, a ride to the hospital, a bunch of staples, and I was on the road to recovery. Step 1 of course was stop the bleeding.
My situation was one where, with some help, I was ok. The woman who touched Jesus couldn’t get well, and no one could help her. For years she had been plagued, but with one touch everything changed. Let us remember that even when what has troubled us has lingered for years, God can take care of it with one touch. We must pursue Christ with the same resolve she did. And believe Jesus can handle it, because he can.
