Faith, Friends, and Family: All From My Favorite Christmas Movie Quotes
I'm a big fan of Christmas movies. I wrote a couple weeks ago about using them to make some great family memories. For today I thought I'd share a few meaningful lines from a few of my favorites. Of course, there are some awesome comical lines as well, but I guess we'll leave those for the comments.
Here we go:
"Faith is believing in things when common sense tells you not to.” -Fred Gailey in "Miracle On 34th Street"
"Seeing is believing, but sometimes the most real things in the world are the things we can’t see." — The Conductor in "The Polar Express"
"You are the best big brother anybody could ever ask for." Santa to his big brother Fred in "Fred Claus"
"He puzzled and puzzled till his puzzler was sore. Then the Grinch thought of something he hadn't before. Maybe Christmas, he thought... doesn't come from a store. Maybe Christmas, perhaps... means a little bit more!" – Narrator in "How The Grinch Stole Christmas"
"Strange, isn’t it? Each man’s life touches so many other lives. When he isn’t around, he leaves an awful hole, doesn’t he?”
Also:
"[In book inscription] "Remember, George: no man is a failure who has friends." -Clarence in "It's A Wonderful Life"
"Doesn't anyone know what Christmas is all about?" -Charlie Brown
"Sure, Charlie Brown, I can tell you what Christmas is all about."
"And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid. And the angel said unto them, ‘Fear not: for behold, I bring unto you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the City of David a Savior, which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.’ And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host, praising God, and saying, 'Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.'" — Linus Van Pelt in "Charlie Brown Christmas" (Although I'm pretty sure Luke said it first)
Faith, friends, and family.
Merry Christmas!
Following the Son,
James A Williams
