Go Big Or Go Home: How God's Plan Included You

The Bible teaches us that Jesus was slain from the foundation of the world (Revelation 13:8).

From the beginning of time when God had first breathed life into newly formed Adam there was already a plan for Jesus to come and redeem him. Jesus would enter history in the flesh "at the right time."

Yet, the God who calls things that are not as though they are (Romans 4:17), could see the beginning from the end throughout all of history. The God who is the same yesterday, today, and forever is the Lord of yesterday, today, and forever as well.

In God's plan for the world Abraham and his descendants had a special place. The Hebrew people were to be God's chosen people. They were also to be a light to the nations. "Because of you, people will praise me," are his words over Israel in Isaiah 49:3. Sadly, over time they became more of an exclusive club. They also fell short when it came to serving God and the sacrificial system wasn't enough to take away their sins (Hebrews 10:4).

They needed a Savior.

God had a plan. A big plan.

"It is too small a thing for you to be my servant to restore the tribes of Jacob and bring back those of Israel I have kept. I will also make you a light for the Gentiles, that my salvation may reach to the ends of the earth." Isaiah 49:6.

The Father's plan was Jesus. Jesus had always been the plan. Our big God had a big plan, and it's how we all got in on the deal. God decided to go all out and instead of just including the people of Israel he would also include the people of Central America. The people of Southeast Asia would be added, along with the land down under, and Europe. Africa, the Caribbean islands, Scandinavia, and South America would not be missed. And thankfully for me the folks from "the sticks," in rural VA. (Y'all don't know about the sticks). Jesus came for everyone. God didn't do a small thing. He went big.

"Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!" John the Baptist

God included you in the plan. And that, my friend, is good news.

Following the Son,
James A Williams
