Father's Love

It's about 6:30 am and in just a bit I will get into my car on Saturday morning and drive across town to deliver a load of clean, folded clothes to my son. I picked him up from the airport yesterday evening. He's in Dallas these weeks for training, and is home for only 2 days. Today he has a wedding to attend, and tomorrow it's back to Dallas. His schedule is tight, and when we stopped by the house coming from the airport yesterday he said to his wife, "I have to do laundry." So, his clothes were thrown in the washer, and off they ran.
In his planning for today he will know that somehow he has to get by to pick up his clothes. He won't have to though. I'm his Father, I already know what he needs, I love him, and I'm bringing the clothes.

Two truths emerge from this.

One: Clearly I should win some sort of "Awesome Dad" award (or at least "awesome launderer person).

Two: Parents often come through with what we need without our even asking.

Three: God is the ultimate parent.
(I already know I said two. Leave me alone, I thought of a third one)

Check this out:
"I will answer them before they even call to me.  While they are still talking about their needs, I will go ahead and answer their prayers!" Isaiah 65:24.

What a promise!

The prophet's words could never be understood as in any way diminishing the importance of talking to God. Prayer is powerful and effective. Be sure to talk to God today.
Yet, how incredible is it to know we have a Father who answers our prayers before we even pray them? He answers before we even call. Father has already set things into motion to meet needs you have, and you haven't even prayed about those things yet.
That's pretty powerful, and a whole lot of love.

Following the Son,

James A Williams
