Worry Never Works
"Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own." Matthew 6:34.
Easier said than done, right? Worrying about things in life comes so naturally to us. Family, work, education, relationships, finances, health, there's simply no shortage of things to worry about. However, Jesus taught us in Matthew 6 that worry never really accomplishes anything. It's been compared to a rocking chair. It gives you something to do, but it doesn't get you anywhere.
My little cousin, Benjamin, has Down Syndrome. Now 4 years of age he's doing well, but his life has had no shortage of difficulties. Yet every morning he wakes up smiling. He trusts that his parents will make sure he has what he needs so he's able to just enjoy life. He brings smiles to everyone who meets him. He's a great example of the childlike faith we're to have in our Heavenly Father. God knows our needs before we even ask Him, so we're to trust in His loving care.
When Paul wrote to the the church in Philippi he wrote these words, "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God." Philippians 4:6.
Not worrying is easier said than done, but it's what God wants us to do. Let's trust in our Father. Worrying can't change tomorrow, but it sure can ruin the present. Walk by faith today. You've got this.
Following the Son,
