God Is Shifting Your Position

Sometimes all it will take for God to move you from point A to point B is to lay it on your heart. He will speak to you in a still small voice or confirm his call in some way, and you will know you have heard from God and act on it.

Then there are other times.

 There are also going to be times in your life where God is not going to necessarily speak to your heart about what to do because you lack the ability, you lack the resources, you don't have what is necessary to get yourself to that place. Oh, he may reveal that change is coming, but he won't expect you to act on it because you can't make it happen.

 David cannot make himself the king if God lays it on his heart. He can't get himself to the throne room. Joseph cannot make himself the prime minister of Egypt because God lays it on his heart. He doesn't even speak the language. Ruth cannot get herself into the genealogy of Jesus through a voice from God. She's not even Jewish. But if God wants you somewhere he will do what is necessary to shift and move you into that place, and nothing will hinder his hand when he shifts.

There are positions, places, destinies, ahead for you in your life that you can't get yourself into even if God spoke to you through an angelic visitation. The good news is, he won't need to. He will orchestrate the events of your life to insure that he gets you to where he wants you to be. All you need to do is to keep following Jesus.

"In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps." Proverbs 16:9.

What’s In Your Cart?

On this day in 1939, Sylvan Goldman who owned the Humpty Dumpty supermarket chain got an idea. He was trying to think of a way for his customers to transport more groceries around his stores. He attached 4 wheels to the legs of a wooden folding chair, and then attached a basket to the seat. The shopping cart was born.  Before this shopping trips to the Humpty Dumpty or the Piggly Wiggly would be limited to what you could carry in your arms. I wonder if Sylvan’s original patent stated that one of the wheels was to either not spin or rapidly shake back and forth? It’s possible that this is some modern improvement on his original design. However it happened the carts keep getting bigger. When I bring my groceries to the check out counter I sometimes use the self check out. I don’t like the self checkout because the computer keeps telling me I put things in the bagging area when I didn’t. Mercy

We visited our nephew and his family last weekend. They have three boys, and witnessing their interactions brought back memories of both fun and difficult days of raising our boys. Sometimes when my boys were young I felt like all I did was discipline them. It seemed at times like we couldn't make it through a meal, homework, or even play time, without a fight breaking out, some inappropriate comment, backtalk, or a hundred other random things they could find to do to push their Mother and I over the line.
