Seasons Change: God Remains

"There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens:" Ecclesiastes 3:1

Sometimes when things change it really seems like it would be better to stay the same. Have you been around long enough to remember, New Coke? What a blunder that was. How about the Mustang II? You may need to google those examples. Sometimes a company’s attempt to improve on something can really backfire.

One thing that always stays the same in life is that there will always be change. Most of us don't like it though. Life is easier if everything stays the same. Yet, children grow up and move away, companies transfer jobs to other locations, tragically loved ones die, and so much more that disrupts the routine flow of life.

Times of change can always bring about fear and uncertainty, but,
we have this hope as an anchor," Hebrews 6:19
“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever." Hebrews 13:8

In the storms of life we have an anchor, and our anchor holds. He will never leave us and never forsake us. He's a friend who sticks closer than a brother. He loves us with an everlasting love. He works all things together for our good if we will but love him and and answer his call.
In Isaiah the prophet's day God called him to speak some powerful words to the children of Israel. Although remembering what God has done in the past in our lives is always a part of our testimony, God doesn't wasn't to live in the past. Paul said he forgets those things that lie behind and presses on, and Isaiah gave these promising words.

See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland." Isaiah 43:19

He's still the same God, and wants to do new things in our families and personal lives. Hold on to Jesus as your anchor, and believe that when things change around you he never does. Isn't it great to know that part of his plan for you includes no one being able to snatch you out of his hand? John 10:28.

Following the Son,

James A Williams
